The Challenge
The primary challenge was to design a structural shell that sits closely beside strict ecological water boundary buffers. The layout had to optimize panoramic lake vistas across 180 degrees while providing absolute structural insulation against heavy monsoon downpours and fluctuating humidity cycles.
02 /
The Concept
We envisioned the structure as a floating glass canopy resting on solid local basalt stone masonry columns. Large cantilevered timber-clad roof projections shield the interior glass frames from direct afternoon solar radiation, while forming intermediate warm verandahs that bridge indoor lounges with outdoor lake walkways.
03 /
The Outcome
A double-height living room sits at the core, flanked by sliding glass sheets that slide into wall pockets. Teak wood detailing and raw travertine floors sustain a warm natural color scheme that captures changing reflections of the lake water. High-performance skylights and integrated rainwater management reduce the structure's environmental footprint.
